Homecoming 2014

This last week has got to be one of the busiest weeks of the whole school year. There is so much that goes on during homecoming week! Especially for SBOs. I was really scared about how my grades would look by the end of the week (I know its only the fourth week of school, but the homework load is already leaps and bounds bigger than it ever was last year), but fortunately someone up above was watching out for me, and I've been able to stay on top of it all:)

the Dance
Ally and I had a killer time at the dance. We both have been sick for the past couple days, but we didn't let that stop us!

because first things first, we're the illest:)
All photo credits goes to our wonderful photographer, Dad. We took the pictures by  Cache Valley's notorious Haunted Swings. These swings are part of some urban legend up here. I guess the story goes that someone hung themselves on the swings...? I don't really know. I'm too lazy to look the story, but yeah. I've gone up there a couple of times for mutual because a member of our bishopric owns the property they're on, and I for one have never seen any paranormal activity over there. So take that as you will.

Back to School

Wow. It's been a crazy couple of weeks! With Holden leaving on his mission, going back to school and EXEC stuff, musical tryouts, I've been keeping pretty busy! Also, welcome to my blog! We'll see if I stick to it, but I thought it would be something fun and different to try. So, without further ado, let's get started!

Mission Time!

Holden left in his mission the day before school started. Not the best way to start off the new school year, but I know he'll be a great servant of the Lord in Japan. We've gotten a couple of updates from him while he's been in the Missionary Training Center, and he's doing as good as he can! He says it's been rough (he's the DL and his district has all gotten sick, plus learning a new language at the same time can't be a walk in the park), but he loves it. He's a great example to me of always staying positive and looking in the bright side of things.

Back to the Grind
The first day of senior year was... interesting. As part of the Executive Council, we were asked to greet kids as they made their way back to another year at Mountain Crest (hence the picture). We laid out an red carpet (or, in our case, orange--got to have that school spirit!) to give students the celebrity treatment and make their return just a bit more fun.
The day was short lived, however. Right before 1st hour ended, the power went out. Normally I would be glad about such an occurrence, but Exec was in charge of an assembly right after our 1st hour. Needless to say, it was pretty hectic. The whole student body was packed into one of the gyms, and with no sound system for the first half hour or so, not much was accomplished. Oh well. The power didn't come back on within an hour, so school was released for the day. Basically, we got a whole extra day of summer vacation. Who can be upset with that?!

110 in the Shade
I had auditions for the school musical a little over a week ago. I ended up getting the supporting role of HC Curry, who is the father of the lead girl, Lizzy Curry. Not the role I was hoping for, but it's a pretty big role nonetheless, and I'm grateful to have gotten such good roles the past couple of years!
Performances will be November 13-15! So mark the dates!

Homecoming Week
Homecoming starts this next week, so I spent Friday with Exec and other SBO groups covering the school with posters. I spent about six hours helping, and the school ended up looking pretty great and full of MCHS spirit!
We decided to take a small break and give each other masking tape headbands. Don't we look fancy?

That's it for now. Have a great day and make sure you eat your vegetables!
